PELICAN LAKE FIRST NATION — Update, Sept. 10, 2:46 p.m.: Spiritwood RCMP arrested a man on Sept. 9 in relation to a fatal collision involving an ATV.
As a result of continued investigation, 33-year-old Richard Bear, from Pelican Lake First Nation, is charged with one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and one count, failure to stop after accident resulting in death.
He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Sept. 10.
Original post, Sept. 8, 12:23 p.m.: Spiritwood RCMP are investigating a fatal collision involving an ATV and a vehicle on Pelican Lake First Nation.
On Sept. 6, just before 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision on a road near the mall on Pelican Lake First Nation.
Investigators determined a vehicle and an ATV collided. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.
The operator of the ATV, a 26-year-old man from Pelican Lake First Nation, was declared dead at the scene by EMS. His family has been notified.
Spiritwood RCMP are investigating with help from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist and continue to search for the driver.
