At some point in our lives we’ve all stepped on a Lego block in the house and probably let out a stream of cuss words afterward. There are a few things that will quicken a fully grown man to tears than stepping on a Lego block at 2am on the way to the bathroom. Only knocking a shin on a ball hitch will make someone’s eyes water faster.
Believe it or not, there is an actual competition in the world where contestants must run as fast as they can over a stretch of Lego blocks. This year’s competition happened in New Zealand and one participant managed to find her way into the record books thanks to her tough feet.
Gabrielle Wall of New Zealand is now in the record book after running 24.75 seconds in a 100 meter dash over Lego blocks in her bare feet. Ouch! She says she spent about two months leading up to the event just trying to build up the calluses on the bottom her feet so she would be able to somewhat endure the pain of the race. She admitted to even going to a wedding with no shoes or socks on.
In all, 661 pounds of Lego bricks were used on the track.
