REGINA — A preliminary hearing is scheduled for a former southeast Saskatchewan resident facing charges in multiple jurisdictions.
Mason Wayne Strutt had his latest appearance Sept. 4 in Regina Provincial Court. At that time, the preliminary inquiry was set to determine if there is enough evidence for Strutt to stand trial.
His next court appearance in Regina is slated for Jan. 13, 2026.
Strutt was arrested and charged by members of the Regina Police Service on April 10. His charges in Regina include uttering threats, assault, animal cruelty and causing a person to take a noxious substance.
In Moose Jaw, he has been facing a charge of sexual assault. The matter was moved to Court of King’s Bench in Moose Jaw in July for a trial before a judge and jury.
He also has charges in the southeast, including one count each of mischief and having a blood alcohol concentration of at least .08 within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance, along with multiple counts of violating his release conditions.
His next court appearance for his southeast matters is Sept. 16.
He is currently out on conditions.
