REGINA — The story of business leader and philanthropist Paul J. Hill was the featured attraction for the very first Popcorn & Entrepreneurship Series event in Regina on Wednesday night.
The event was put on by the North Saskatoon Business Association which has held several Popcorn & Entrepreneurship Series events in Saskatoon, but this marked the first time the event came to Regina.
Mosaic Stadium was the venue for the event, with the documentary Built to Last – The Paul J. Hill Story making its Regina premiere. The documentary had already screened last month at NSBA’s Popcorn & Entrepreneurship Series event in Saskatoon.
This time, it was screened on the big screen outside at Mosaic Stadium, with those in attendance watching and eating popcorn from the seats in the bleachers.
“With firsthand accounts and reflections from Hill and those closest to him, this exclusive documentary pulls back the curtain on what it truly means to build something that lasts,” it states on the NSBA website.
The title of the documentary was a nod to the long history of the company and multiple generations of family involvement going back to 1903, before the province of Saskatchewan was even created. Paul Hill is the third generation to lead the company, following both Walter H.A. Hill and Frederick W. Hill.
Back inside, both Paul and Carol Hill sat down for an interview with business commentator Paul Martin in which they reflected about business, but even more about art, family and faith. Afterwards, Gavin Semple of Brandt Industries presented Hill with a commemorative “star.”
Hill said he was pleased with how the documentary turned out.
