NORTH BATTLEFORD — Two men have been charged with numerous offences after they tried to crash their way out of a parking area blocked by RCMP, police say.
On Sept. 12, around 4:45 p.m., Battlefords RCMP Crime Reduction Team Gang Task Force located a truck reported stolen out of Turtleford driving in North Battleford. The truck parked outside an apartment building on 108th Street in North Battleford and police officers attempted to block the truck with a police vehicle to prevent it from driving away.
According to police, the truck reversed into two other civilian vehicles and the police vehicle, then drove forward and attempted to flee, driving through a fence and colliding with a tree in the backyard of a property nearby.
The truck’s two occupants, both males, fled on foot. RCMP officers and Police Dog Services followed on foot and both suspects were arrested. Police say one male required treatment for what were described as minor injuries related to his arrest and was released back into police custody.
Following a search of the vehicle, a loaded prohibited firearm, imitation firearm, ammunition, soft body armour and bear spray were located and seized, among other items.
