SASKATOON — Police have arrested a 34-year-old man who was listed as one of Saskatchewan’s most wanted fugitives has been arrested. RCMP confirmed on Monday that Cory Lee Rushkewich was arrested by the Saskatchewan RCMP Enforcement Response Team (SERT) on Sept. 8.
Charges against Rushkewich stem from a November 2023 incident in Rosetown, where RCMP responded to reports of a robbery and serious assault.
According to police, the altercation occurred among a group of individuals near First Street West. During the incident, a firearm was involved and pointed at several people, say police. A male victim was assaulted and hospitalized with serious injuries.
The day after the incident, Rosetown RCMP arrested Cory Rushkewich and his brother, Randy Darcy Rushkewich, both from Rosetown. They were each charged with aggravated assault. Cory Rushkewich was also charged with three counts of pointing a firearm and robbery.
In July, Randy Rushkewich was sentenced to 52 days in jail and 12 months of probation.
