SASKATOON — A close family member of the woman who died in a two-vehicle collision on Sept. 12 has set up a GoFundMe page to help her husband and two daughters she left behind.
Crystal Gibson started the fundraiser on behalf of her brother, Trevor, and her two nieces, Tianna and Emma. The campaign aims to raise $9,000 and, as of this writing, has already secured 28 donors, totalling $2,740 as of Monday afternoon.
Gibson said her brother’s family, which has been struggling the last few years, was shattered by the tragic loss of her sister-in-law, Jacquelyne Gould, whom she described as a strong and courageous woman.
She added that her brother was the sole provider for his family after Gould suffered from chronic kidney failure and was on ongoing dialysis six days a week.
Gibson said she is asking for donations from kind-hearted people to cover the funeral costs, travel and relocation expenses.
“With sudden loss comes financial hardships in such a heartbreaking time, while my brother and his two beautiful daughters mourn the loss of such a strong, courageous woman,” said Gibson.
“Trevor will also be missing work for an extended amount of time to grieve and support his two daughters, who lost their mother, with whom they were both so close and loved dearly.”
The RCMP received the report of two minivans involved in an accident about 15 kilometres south of Saskatoon, on the highway going to Dakota Dunes. The RCMP, along with the Saskatoon Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene.
Gould, 48, from Manor, died at the scene, according to the EMS. The driver of the other minivan, an adult male, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. No further updates were given on his condition.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The collision happened as heavy fog blanketed the Saskatoon area last Friday morning, reducing visibility to near zero in some places.
