ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service has handled a number of calls in recent days.
EPS members conducted a search of a residence Sept. 18 to confirm compliance by the occupant with their court-ordered conditions associated with a conditional sentence order. The search located items the accused is prohibited from possessing and as a result, she was arrested and lodged in cells to appear in court the following day.
An abandoned vehicle was towed after being left unoccupied on a street for several days. The owner was contacted and indicated he had abandoned the vehicle. He did not intend to return to remove it.
Police responded to a report of a suspicious male going through back alleys and taking cans from the garbage containers. Members located him and warned him about his behaviour.
A youth was arrested and charged Sept. 14 with taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent following a complaint earlier in the day. The vehicle was located and returned to its rightful owner without incident. The youth is scheduled to make their first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on Oct. 25.
Officers responded to a 911 hang-up call from a local hotel. The room was identified and police attended. It was determined that the call was placed accidentally and an emergency was not occurring.
Police received a report of a possible motor vehicle collision in the parking lot of a local business. Upon investigation, no collision was found. It was determined that a mobile phone had mistakenly detected a collision and automatically dialed 911.
A report was received regarding a possible impaired driver on King Street. Officers conducted patrols of the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
