LLOYDMINSTER — A high-ranking street gang member was arrested in Lloydminster on Sept. 18 following a co-ordinated police operation involving multiple law enforcement units. A police investigation led them to locate a suspect related to a stolen vehicle and flight from police incident.
Jesse Dillon, 34, now of Edmonton, was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a home. The operation was led by Lloydminster RCMP, with support from the General Investigation Section, Alberta ALERT, and Police Dog Services. Officers obtained a warrant and entered the home, arresting Dillon along with three other individuals wanted on outstanding warrants.
Three of the four were released on conditions pending charges. Dillon, however, faces numerous charges including dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime, driving while prohibited, obstructing police, flight from police, and breaching a court order.
Dillon was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster on Sept. 23.
“We would like to thank the public for their co-operation during this police operation” said Cpl. Kelly Sikorski of the Lloydminster RCMP. “We understand that certain homes and areas have been receiving more calls for service due to concerns of possible criminal activity. Lloydminster RCMP is committed to helping create safe communities to live in and asks the public to call in any suspicious activity that may be linked to criminality or to the harbouring of criminals.”
Another standoff in 2025
On June 26, Dillon, originally from Onion Lake Cree Nation, was sentenced to 55 days in jail and given 12 months of probation on charges of obstructing a police officer and failing to comply with a release order.
Those charges stem from an incident earlier that month after Dillon was arrested in a high-risk takedown. Lloydminster RCMP, supported by Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PDS), executed high-risk warrants on the Saskatchewan side of the border city. The operation led to road closures and a heavy police presence.
In May 2024, Dillon was “inadvertently released” after a court appearance, prompting RCMP to issue a public warning that he was at large and considered dangerous. He was recaptured days later by Meadow Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Team.
Last June, robbery and firearms charges against Dillon were stayed in Lloydminster Saskatchewan Provincial Court.
Court testimony in Saskatoon revealed Dillon continued running a drug trafficking operation while incarcerated in Prince Albert. With the help of his then-girlfriend, he directed drug deals, collected debts, and made threats through hundreds of jailhouse phone calls using other inmates’ phone time.
The charges against Dillon haven’t been proven in court.
