PIERCELAND — RCMP are investigating a string of thefts in Pierceland after suspects stole multiple vehicles and equipment from a local business. Police say the suspects fired a gun and attempted to ram a vehicle when confronted, before fleeing toward Alberta.
On Sept. 16 and 17, Pierceland RCMP received reports of thefts at a business in Pierceland. It was reported that three to four individuals entered the property and stole five vehicles, keys and a significant amount of equipment from the business.
On Sept. 18 at approximately 11:40 p.m., Pierceland RCMP received a report there was another theft of a vehicle at the business. An individual attempted to intervene and approached the business in a vehicle. Police say a firearm was discharged at the individual’s vehicle, and the suspects later tried to ram it. The individual did not report physical injuries to police.
Pierceland RCMP immediately responded with the assistance of Cold Lake RCMP. Two of the suspect vehicles were located and fled from police. It’s believed the suspects fled into Alberta.
Pierceland RCMP are currently actively investigating these incidents. Area residents may note an increased police presence in the area as this investigation continues. Investigators are working to get descriptions of the suspects and the vehicles they may currently be driving, and to locate the stolen vehicles and items.
Pierceland RCMP advise residents not to approach any suspicious persons and to report them – and all crimes in progress – to police immediately by dialling 310-RCMP, and 911 in an emergency.
