Every year the National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, NY inducts a number of new toys that have made a major impact in the lives of children over the years. Past toys that have been inducted include the Top, Phase 10, Sand, Lite-Brite, Cabbage Patch Kids, and even the Rubber Duck, among others.
A list of 12 toys has been assembled by the Hall of Fame for induction in 2025 and one of the potential inductees is a Canadian-made game that has endured for over 45 years. Trivial Pursuit was invented by Scott Abbott and Chris Haney of Montreal in December of 1979. Since then, 70 different editions have been released and over 100 million copies have been sold.
Besides Trivial Pursuit, this year’s other inductees include:
- Battleship
- Catan
- Connect 4
- Cornhole
- Furby
- Scooter
- Slime
- Snow
- Spirograph
- Star Wars Light Saber
- Tickle Me Elmo
The three toys that get the most votes will join the ballot of the three choices made by the Selection Advisory Committee. The public can vote for their choice from now until Wednesday and the final list of inductees will be announced in November.
