OUTLOOK — One of the newest amenities in the town of Outlook has been dedicated to a longtime member of the local Kinsmen club who is still remembered today.
The new gathering hut building located at Kinsmen Park along Railway Avenue, which was built this past summer by Stephon Scopick with materials from Dalas King and Lumber Plus, was dedicated to the late Dave Desjarlais, a longtime Kinsmen Club member.
Family, friends and members of the Kinsmen gathered at the park in front of the building to remember Desjarlais in a dedication ceremony held on Sept. 26 with club president Bre Larson sharing a few words about Desjarlais' impact on the club, his community and particularly his friends and family.

Desjarlais joined the Outlook Kinsmen Club in 1979, serving as president several times and willingly taking on any role. Chairing many programs over the years, it was said the annual Christmas tree campaign held in Outlook was his favourite. Over the years, Desjarlais attended many Telemiracle events, and he was a steady presence in anything he did, ultimately receiving a life-membership honour from the Outlook club in 2016. However, he was also a lover of practical jokes, with his favourites being the ones where he would pretend he had nothing to do with them.
"He truly lived the values of the Kinsmen, and he wore his badge with pride," said Larson, speaking to those gathered in the park.
Members of the Kinsmen Club gathered with Dave’s family for a photo opportunity as a sign dedicating Desjarlais’s name to the building was unveiled.
"Today, we dedicate this Kin Hut to a man who gave so much to his community, and may it carry on his legacy of service, laughter and heart," said Bre.
Desjarlais passed away in March 2019. He considered the Outlook Kinsmen Club to be his second family.
