REGINA — On Truth and Reconciliation Day, Carla Beck, Leader of the Saskatchewan NDP, has issued the following statement:
"Today, and every day, we join Indigenous communities across Saskatchewan and Canada in the spirit of truth and reconciliation.
"Together, we remember the children who never returned home, honour the survivors, and recommit ourselves to the difficult work of healing and justice.
"That work requires real action. It means truly listening to Indigenous people and respecting the Duty to Consult. It means working hand-in-hand with Indigenous governments and communities as true partners.
"We must also continue to pursue the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
"Walking alongside Indigenous people on a path to reconciliation has always been a priority of our team, and we will continue to be committed to walking that path with all Indigenous People who call this beautiful province home.
"We are committed to doing what it takes to build a brighter future for everyone that calls Saskatchewan home."
