SASKATOON — Update, Oct. 7, 3:41 p.m.: Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Serious Assault Unit have identified and charged a 19-year-old woman following a stabbing that occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 1 in the 100 Block of Avenue O South.
She was arrested by Police Patrol that same evening and subsequently charged with aggravated assault.
Original post, Oct. 1, 3:02 p.m.: The Saskatoon Police Service is investigating five separate stabbings reported between Sept. 29 and Oct. 1, which left multiple people injured.
Police said the first incident happened around noon on Sept. 29, when a 56-year-old man went to hospital with stab wounds after two people allegedly broke into his residence in the 200 block of Avenue V South and assaulted him before fleeing with his phone.
Later that afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., officers were again called to hospital after a 53-year-old man reported being bear sprayed and stabbed behind a convenience store in the 500 block of Avenue W South.
On Sept. 30, a 51-year-old man sought treatment for stab wounds around 9 p.m. Investigators believe the incident occurred earlier that morning, around 1 a.m., near 22nd Street West and Confederation Drive.
Police were then called at 1 a.m. Oct. 1 to a disturbance in the 100 block of Avenue O South, where a woman was found with serious stab wounds. She was taken to hospital, while the suspect fled before officers arrived.
Just two hours later, police responded to the 600 block of Idylwyld Drive North, where they found a 21-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.
