Welcome to October! This month is usually a busy one for Canadians coast to coast as harvest begins to wraps up, gardens are cleaned up, and family arrives for Thanksgiving. In addition to Thanksgiving, October is also the month to celebrate seafood, pizza, vegetarian diets, and cookies.
October can also bring a mixed bag of weather. It’s not uncommon for snow to arrive in the month of Halloween, however this year may be a bit different thanks to above seasonal temperatures across the prairies. According to the Weather Network, October is shaping up to be one of the warmest on record with more sunshine and very little rain expected. Meteorologists are predicting above normal weather for the prairies, which will be a breath of fresh air for farmers wanting to complete harvest.
The Weather Network is quick point out, however, that just because it appears to be nice, doesn’t mean the weather won’t turn quickly and we see the start of old man winter in Saskatchewan.
Elsewhere across the country, the Weather Network is predicting a nice start to October in British Columbia, however significant moisture is expected later in the month. Temperatures are expected to be very nice for Ontario and Quebec in the coming weeks, while Atlantic Canada can expect a relatively calm October.
