YORKTON — Two people people from Regina Beach are facing several charges after RCMP tracked down a stolen SUV.
Lumsden RCMP first received a report on October 2 of a stolen SUV taken from a driveway in Regina Beach.
On October 5, around 3:30 p.m., Melville RCMP were alerted that the SUV had been spotted near the community. Officers located the vehicle on Highway #10 and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over.
The pursuit continued toward Foam Lake, where police deployed a tire deflation device. The SUV ran over it and eventually came to a stop in a field near Elfros after striking several police vehicles.
No officers were hurt and the two occupants were arrested at the scene.
RCMP say 34-year-old Levi Bast-Kozar of Regina Beach faces multiple charges, including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and three counts of assault on a police officer with a weapon.
A 33-year-old woman, also from Regina Beach, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Both were also arrested in connection with separate vehicle thefts reported to the White Butte RCMP on September 25 and September 28.
The pair are scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on October 6.
