MOOSE JAW — The head of an organization operating Moose Jaw’s downtown shelter says he’s been left in the dark as the province and the city decide the fate of the building.
Shawn Fraser, the CEO of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan, says he’s not heard from the province about its proposal to move the Willow Lodge.
Fraser says he’s trying to keep staff informed about what’s happening to the 15-bed shelter but says there’s little information.
Moose Jaw Mayor James Murdock had announced the province wants the shelter moved shortly after he held a meeting with Premier Scott Moe and some of his cabinet ministers.
The mayor, who says he was surprised by the decision, had said he does not know where the shelter will be moved, but the province instructed the city to provide suitable locations.
The province did not immediately respond to questions over what’s happening to the shelter.
