The Regina Police Service is warning the public to secure their belongings after a string of thefts from recreation facilities.
Over the past two weeks, police have received several reports of stolen items and vehicles linked to a group of suspects believed to be between 9 and 13 years old. On October 2, four sets of keys were taken from a facility on Elphinstone Street, leading to the theft of two vehicles later recovered by police.
Another theft occurred October 7 at the same location. Police say the suspects stole a vehicle, switched license plates, and travelled to Balgonie and Melville, where they broke into businesses and nearly hit an RCMP officer while fleeing.
Police have since arrested a 13-year-old boy and continue to investigate. The public is reminded to lock lockers, keep valuables out of sight, and always secure vehicles when visiting public facilities.
