ONION LAKE CREE NATION — A man has been charged following an assault on Onion Lake Cree Nation.
On Sept. 10 at around 3 a.m., Onion Lake RCMP received a report of an injured woman on Onion Lake Cree Nation.
Investigation determined the woman had been assaulted. She was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious in nature.
Onion Lake RCMP continued to investigate. On Sept. 12, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team attended a property on Onion Lake Cree Nation in relation to the investigation. A man was arrested without incident.
During further investigation, several items were seized from the property, including:

two improvised firearms;

gunpowder;
-
several rounds of assorted ammunition;

several firearm parts and replica firearm parts;
-
one rifle-style pellet gun;
-
one handgun-style pellet gun; and
-
several edged weapons.
A 37-year-old man from Onion Lake Cree Nation is charged with:

one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
-
one count, aggravated assault;
-
one count, pointing a firearm;
-
one count, discharge firearm with intent;
-
one count, assault with a weapon;
-
one count, using firearm while committing offence;
-
one count, manufacturing a firearm;
-
one count, unsafe storage of firearms;
-
one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm;
-
two counts, possession of a firearm when prohibited; and
-
one count, fail to comply with probation order.
The accused appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Sept. 22.
