REGINA — A 37-year-old man who was not supposed to be found in possession of a knife has been charged after just such a weapon was shown during a robbery.
Thursday morning, Oct. 16, at approximately 5:10 a.m., police were called to a business on the 1100 block of Victoria Avenue East for a report of a weapons offence involving a knife. Police were told that a man had demanded property from an employee after refusing to follow identification procedures. The suspect then revealed a knife and, once he had obtained the property, went to another area of the building.
Police say a man matching the description of the suspect was taken into custody, and a search resulted in the seizure of a large silver knife. Further investigation determined the suspect was bound by a probation order that included a condition prohibiting him from possessing knives. He was arrested without incident and charged with robbery, failing to comply with a probation order, and two counts of failing to comply with a condition of an undertaking.
