WEYBURN — One man has been arrested and a woman is being sought on a warrant after stolen goods being found during a traffic stop.
On Aug. 22, Weyburn RCMP were making proactive patrols and observed an SUV travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 13 near Griffin. Officers conducted a traffic stop.
As a result of investigation, an adult male was arrested.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a number of stolen items, including two soldering irons, veterinary medicine, calculators, sports cards, toys, and pocketknives, amongst others. Investigation determined the items were stolen from multiple businesses across Western Canada. The recovered items have since been returned to their owners.
A 45-year-old man from Edmonton was charged with one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Following more investigation, he was additionally charged with theft over $5,000.
An adult female, 47-year-old Mary Leblanc from Edmonton, faces the same charges, and a warrant has been issued for her arrest. Weyburn RCMP are working to locate Mary Leblanc and ask members of the public to report sightings and information on her whereabouts.
