The City of Melville will mark a major milestone this week with the official completion of its Wastewater Treatment System Expansion project.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, taking place one mile east of Melville. Signage will be posted along the highway to guide attendees to the site.
Following the ribbon cutting, guests will have the opportunity to take part in guided facility tours led by project representatives. The tours will highlight the new system’s advanced features, improvements to wastewater management, and the overall benefits it will bring to the community’s sustainability and long-term growth.
“This expansion represents an important investment in Melville’s future,” said mayor Joe Kirwan. “It strengthens our infrastructure and supports a cleaner, more resilient community for years to come.”
The event is open to all members of the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend and learn more about this significant community development.
IGNITE Melville Hosting Second Community Café
IGNITE Melville is inviting residents to take part in shaping the city’s future during its second Community Café on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the CN Community Centre, located at 575 2nd Avenue West. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The Community Café offers a relaxed, gallery-walk style setting where community members, local leaders, and city representatives can connect, exchange ideas, and listen to one another.
Building on discussions from the first Community Café, this session will focus on key themes identified in earlier conversations. The goal is to continue developing a shared vision for Melville’s long-term growth and prosperity.
Organizers say the event provides an important opportunity for residents to have their voices heard and to collaborate on initiatives that will help guide Melville’s future direction.
The event is open to everyone, and residents are encouraged to attend.
