ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service responded to a couple of reports of vehicle thefts on Oct. 16.
Police were called about a vehicle stolen from a residence in south Estevan. Patrol members located the unoccupied vehicle a short time later in the 1300 block of Seventh Street. A suspect has been identified and the matter remains under investigation.
Officers also received a report of a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent. That matter is also still under investigation.
In other recent EPS news, members received a complaint of criminal harassment on Oct. 15. The matter remains under investigation.
A complaint of fraudulent charges on a credit card is also under investigation by EPS members. The complainant had already reported it to the financial institution involved and subsequently reported it to police.
Patrol members and the Police and Crisis Team attended a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in the Hillside area. The situation was mediated, and one of the individuals involved agreed to relocate to another residence for the night.
A complaint of harassing phone calls is being investigated after the complainant received multiple unwanted calls from the same individual.
Multiple compliance checks were conducted on individuals bound by court-ordered conditions. During the checks, a female was found to be under the influence of drugs and failing to comply with her release conditions. She was arrested and lodged in cells, to be released with new charges once sober.
The Estevan Combined Traffic Services of Saskatchewan unit conducted a traffic stop on a 39-year-old woman from Hitchcock on Oct. 16. She was arrested for driving while prohibited and released with an appearance notice for court in December.
A report of an erratic driver was received. The caller did not wish for further police involvement but wanted to report the incident for informational purposes.
Police received a report Oct. 18 of a bicycle theft from a local business. The individual entered the business and, upon exiting, discovered the bicycle was gone.
A pink watch was found by members while on patrol. Anyone who has lost a pink watch and can accurately describe it should contact the Estevan Police Service.
Police responded to a Report Impaired Drivers (RID) call regarding a motorist leaving a local bar. The driver was located and arrested for impaired driving. The passenger was also arrested for being grossly intoxicated.
A curfew check was conducted on a female. She was found to be in breach of multiple conditions and was arrested and lodged in cells.
Police received a report of youths damaging property in the industrial area. Officers located the young people at a party in a nearby shop. Multiple open alcohol tickets were issued to individuals leaving the area after police arrived.
The EPS mediated a harassment matter Oct. 20 between two neighbouring tenants and the landlord of a north-central apartment complex.
Members attended a northeast Estevan grocery store following a report of two individuals offering a flower in exchange for money. The two females were located and warned about the City of Estevan bylaw for panhandling.
EPS members also responded to a residence in central Estevan after receiving a report of someone aggressively knocking on the door and windows and uttering threats. Following an investigation, a 33-year-old woman was charged with uttering threats. She is scheduled to make her first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on Dec. 1.
