REGINA — Patricia Farnese has been named the new integrity commissioner for the City of Regina.
Per a media release, Farnese will take over the role come Jan. 1, 2026.
“Public trust in government is built through transparency and an unwavering commitment to ethical conduct. I am honoured to serve Regina by providing independent oversight and supporting council in upholding the highest standards of integrity,” said Farnese.
Additionally, an integrity commissioner educates and advises council members on ethical matters.
Farnese has an extensive background in law, holding several positions with the University of Saskatchewan and different levels of government, including the City of Regina’s legal department in 2002.
While holding numerous roles, she also runs her own law firm, Farnese Law.
The city says her background equips Farnese well “to respond to inquiries and investigate complaints of unethical conduct.”
The integrity commissioner is appointed for a four-year term. The office of the city solicitor and city clerk reviews submissions and ensures the right candidates are selected for the role.
Farnese will be replacing the current integrity commissioner, Angela Kruk, whose term ends Dec. 31.
