PRINCE ALBERT – Tristen Naytowhow has been ordered to stand trial in the death of Chad Bird. A Prince Albert Provincial Court judge committed him to the Court of King’s Bench during an Oct. 31 court appearance. A trial date will be set at a later date.
Naytowhow was arrested in October 2023 and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Bird’s death.
According to RCMP, Bird’s body was found outside a home after Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP got a call about a sudden death on Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
In June, according to the court, Naytowhow’s co-accused Julian Tyson Ganton, who was charged with accessory after the fact to murder, was given time served. Ganton was arrested in October 2024 in Saskatoon with help from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team and Saskatoon Police Service.
