REGINA, SK — Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes has arrested and charged a man from Regina in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred near Weyburn in September.
On September 12, 44-year-old Tanya Myers was travelling as a passenger in one of two vehicles struck by gunfire while driving along Highway 39. She died as a result of the incident.
Following an extensive investigation, RCMP arrested 42-year-old Chris Fahlman in Regina on November 1. He now faces four criminal charges:
- Manslaughter with a firearm
- Careless use of a firearm
- Carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
- Occupying a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm inside
Fahlman is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Monday, November 3.
RCMP thanked the Weyburn Police Service for their initial response at the scene, as well as Saskatchewan Provincial Protective Services and Saskatchewan Marshals Service officers for conducting additional patrols in the area during the investigation.
