SASKATOON — A 14-year-old Saskatoon boy is facing charges following the attempted armed robbery of a convenience store in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive in the Confederation neighbourhood on the weekend.
At approximately 1 a.m., Nov. 2, staff reported that the male had entered the store and began stuffing items into his pockets. When confronted by one of the employees, the suspect deployed bear spray and fled on foot. Police were in the area and witnessed the male flee. They were able to bring him into custody nearby.
The staff members suffered non-life-threatening physical injuries, consistent with the effects of bear spray.
The 14 year old is facing a charge of robbery and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
