SASKATOON – Saskatoon police arrested and charged a woman last night after a reported robbery of a taxi.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., Nov. 4, patrol officers responded to a robbery-in-progress in a motel parking lot in the 100 block of Circle Drive West where a female passenger was seen physically assaulting a taxi driver and attempting to steal his vehicle. After the altercation, the woman entered the driver's seat and, while trying to flee the scene, reportedly struck the taxi driver. Both parties left the scene prior to police arrival.
The victim, a 75-year-old man, returned to the scene and was determined not to have sustained serious physical injuries.
A female matching the suspect description was apprehended in the 2000 block of Avenue B North and taken into custody.
The 30-year-old woman is charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, obstruction, and breach of court-imposed conditions.
