ESTEVAN — A woman has been arrested on drug trafficking charges for the second time this year after a drug bust in Estevan.
According to a news release issued by the Estevan Police Service on Nov. 6, the Drug Intelligence Unit made an arrest stemming from an investigation into drug trafficking. The EPS says its officers arrested 28-year-old Candace Montgomery on Oct. 29.
She has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
During the investigation, the EPS says members seized over one pound of methamphetamine, along with quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. Further information from the EPS says the meth has a street value of roughly $10,000, while the cocaine is valued at $1,500 and the fentanyl is $200.
Further charges are not being considered at this time, the EPS said.
At the time of her arrest, the EPS says Montgomery was on release conditions after she was charged for drug trafficking and property-related crimes in May.
She appeared in Estevan Provincial Court by phone on Nov. 3. The Crown said it was opposed to her release and was planning to revoke Montgomery’s bail.
She has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Carlyle Provincial Court on Nov. 12 to speak to the charges.
Anyone with information about this or other criminal activity is asked to contact the EPS at 306-634-4767 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
