THE BATTLEFORDS — Battlefords RCMP are seeking to confirm the wellbeing of individuals in a dark green Jeep Wrangler SUV following a shooting on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation on Nov. 5.
According to RCMP, officers received a report of a shooting at approximately 7:10 p.m. and immediately responded. Investigators determined that an interaction had taken place between a man in a parking lot outside a community facility and an occupant of a green Jeep. During that encounter, police say, a firearm was discharged from the Jeep, injuring the man.
Police say the injured man then entered a tan-coloured Jeep, and both vehicles left the scene.
A short time later, investigators say, another confrontation occurred between the two vehicles in a business parking lot along Highway 4. A firearm was discharged from the tan-coloured Jeep before both vehicles again fled the area.
RCMP said the injured man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. The man and a woman were arrested on outstanding warrants from Battlefords RCMP.
No charges have been laid in connection with the shooting.
Battlefords RCMP continue to investigate and are working to locate the occupants of the green Jeep. Police said they believe a second person may have been injured and are attempting to confirm that individual’s condition.
The green vehicle is described as a dark green 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited SUV.
