REGINA — The action on the field Saturday night is sure to be hard-hitting and intense as the Saskatchewan Roughriders host the CFL's Western Final against the B.C. Lions, but football fans are being advised to do one thing before they make the trip to Mosaic Stadium in Regina.
Bundle up.
The advice comes after the province experienced the first snowfall of this later part of the year, which dropped in various amounts all over Rider Nation.
As we head into the weekend, weather patterns are seeing different temperature outcomes for parts of the province, but James Colangelo, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says there's a definite possibility of snow in Regina.
Over the next 24 hours heading into Saturday afternoon, Colangelo says that the Queen City will see cooler conditions beginning with light snow today, meaning that football fanatics will need to ensure that they're keeping warm as the Western Final gets underway.
"In Regina, it's looking like we'll see some light snow coming in later this afternoon into the evening hours," he said. "And after that snow falls, the temperatures will drop quite drastically. For Saturday for the CFL game, the high is looking like -7. So, people should know that it's going to be quite chilly for the game. And then the temperature continues to drop through the night. And apparently, we have a low of -17 forecast for Regina for Saturday night. So, quite the chilly day to play some football."
CFL fans are being told to prepare for the weather and be ready for the drop in temperature.
"It's going to be quite windy, but be prepared for cooler conditions that'll keep dropping," said Colangelo. "If people are going out after the game, they really need to prepare for that and bundle up.
Kickoff for tomorrow's Western Final is set for 5:30 p.m.
