LLOYDMINSTER – A Regina man arrested last week on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop remains in custody.
Riley Lawlor, 33, had an appearance scheduled in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Thursday and was remanded. He is scheduled back in court on Nov. 13 for a bail hearing.
Lawlor faces numerous charges, including two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, several weapons-related offences such as possession of a weapon contrary to an order and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and failure to comply with a release order.
The charges against Lawlor and a co-accused were laid after a routine traffic stop by Lloydminster RCMP on Oct. 30. They were initially arrested for possession of unstamped tobacco, which led to a search of their vehicle.
Police say in the search they seized approximately 13 grams of cocaine, 23 grams of fentanyl, a quantity of Canadian currency, a 410 shotgun with a defaced serial number, and shotgun ammunition.
Lawlor’s co-accused, 20-year-old Tanner McIvor of Gravelbourg, has been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and failing to comply with a probation order.
McIvor was released from custody following his arrest. He is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster court on Nov. 17.
