SASKATOON — Two men are in custody and facing weapons charges following an incident at a hotel on the southeast end of the city on Nov. 10.
Saskatoon Police Service responded to a call at approximately 3:20 p.m. that day to a call for an altercation involving armed individuals at a hotel in the 1300 block of Eighth Street East.
When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man in a hotel hallway and arrested him. A search revealed he was in possession of bear spray, a collapsible baton and a quantity of hash oil.
Police reviewed security footage and they say a second man was seen on video pointing a sawed-off firearm during the earlier altercation. Officers found him in a nearby hotel room, where the illegal firearm was also recovered.
Further investigation revealed that both men were in breach of existing court-ordered conditions at the time of their arrests.
The 27-year-old suspect is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.
The 20-year-old is charged with possession of a firearm and pointing a firearm.
