SASKATOON — Investigators with Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section have arrested a fifth person in connection with the death of Timothy Tootoosis.
On Nov. 17, 45-year-old Vernon Korey Peequaquat was arrested in Saskatoon and charged with first-degree murder, offering an indignity to human remains, and unlawful confinement.
Peequaquat appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Nov. 18. He was remanded in custody and is now scheduled to appear on Nov. 21.
Four others have also been arrested and face similar charges, including Emmery Aubichon, Michael McCallum, Michael Landry, and Donovan Lemstra.
Their charges stem from a police investigation that began on Dec. 18, 2024, when officers found a man dead while executing a search warrant at a home in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood of the city, in the 1700 block of 22nd West. The victim was later identified as Tootoosis.
