REGINA–The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation has seen a massive response to its Grey Cup 50/50 draw, with a jackpot pegged at just over two million dollars. That is a new record for a 50/50 draw in the Canadian Football League.
The response has been so big, it has overwhelmed the lotto provider. Some people were charged twice, and in some cases even more than that.
The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation says it is working with the lotto provider to reconcile the cash, and give refunds to those who were over charged. The foundation says this is a small percentage of purchasers. Some also didn’t receive emails confirming their purchase.
In a statement, the foundation says the lotto provider is working quickly, but carefully and those who were impacted will be contacted.
The statement goes on to say once that process is complete, the draw will be held, and the winner announced. The statement did not say how long it will be before a winner is announced.
