REGINA — A 39-year-old man is facing numerous weapons charges after attempting to evade Regina police Tuesday evening in a North Central neighbourhood.
Regina Police Service say that just before 8 p.m. on Nov. 18, officers observed a vehicle driving without headlights down 5th Avenue near the 1000 block Retallack Street.
Police tried to initiative a traffic stop but the vehicle sped away. The driver only went a short distance before losing control of the vehicle and hitting a curb in the 900 block of Rae Street.
Both occupants of the vehicle got out and ran from scene. After a foot chase, the driver was arrested.
When police searched the vehicle, they found a loaded, sawed-off rifle, ammunition, three masks, and four knives.
The suspect was charged with dangerous driving, resisting arrest, and six weapons related offences.
Regina Police Service say this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Regina Police Service
