SASKATOON — Two people were arrested after an early morning traffic stop in the Sutherland neighbourhood that led to the seizure of weapons and drugs.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., on Nov. 19, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop at Central Avenue and 116th Street East. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed a bag containing what appeared to be a controlled substance. The substance was later to be determined fentanyl.
During a further investigation of the vehicle, police found additional quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, cash, digital scales, a can of bear spray and a baton.
In total, officers seized 40.6g of fentanyl and 9.75g of cocaine.
A 39-year-old man and 23-year-old woman are both charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and cocaine. The man faces two additional charges of possession of a dangerous weapon.
