REGINA — The MacKenzie Art Gallery came alive as Indigenous curators and artists from across Turtle Island gathered for Kîsik | Skywatching the Future, the 20th‑anniversary celebration of the Indigenous Curatorial Collective.
Cree artist Joi T. Arcand opened her exhibition Memory of Trees / ayâtaskisow, weaving personal and ancestral histories that sparked conversations about land, loss, and renewal. Métis artist Jaime Black-Morsette delivered a performance blending installation, film and storytelling, inviting the audience to reflect and reclaim space.
The gallery also hosted the ICCA Annual General Meeting, talks and an Indigenous art market featuring local and area Indigenous artists, connecting creators, curators and the public. The spirit of kîsik, the sky, hovered over the event, linking land, memory and possibility, as Indigenous voices shared a vision for the future.
