REGINA — The University of Regina celebrated the accomplishments of the 1,041 graduating students who were awarded 1,095 degrees, diplomas, and certificates at 2025 Fall Convocation ceremonies Thursday.
They join the U of R’s alumni family of more than 95,000.
“Convocation is a day for reflection, for celebration, and for seeing the bright future that you have ahead,” said Dr. Jeff Keshen, U of R president and vice-chancellor. “While convocation may mark the conclusion of your post-secondary journey, it also signifies the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Congratulations to each of our fall 2025 graduates, and I wish you every success in the years to come.”
Several graduates whose achievements represent the highest standards of scholarship, leadership, and community engagement were also recognized at today’s Convocation ceremonies.
The University of Regina President’s Distinguished Graduate Student Award was awarded to Dr. Trudy Lynn Keil. Dr. Keil’s research examined teacher activism in Saskatchewan. Her thesis, Alliances, assemblages, and affect: Teacher activism within and beyond the union in Saskatchewan, offers new insights into how educators advocate for social justice and equity. During her PhD, she published six peer-reviewed journal articles, one book chapter, and presented at numerous national and international conferences, including four times at the prestigious American Educational Research Association. Her supervisor, Dr. Pamela Osmond-Johnson, describes her as exemplifying the highest standards of scholarship, leadership, and service.
The University of Regina President’s Medal and Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies Dean’s Medal was awarded to Chantel Suzanne Hoag. Chantel is an outstanding student whose academic excellence, leadership, and community service embody the spirit of this award. Graduating with an 82.6 per cent GPA, she was named to the Dean’s Honour List in 2021 and 2022 and received several awards, including the Academic Silver Scholarship and Inspiring Leadership Fellowship. As Chair of the Varsity Club Athletics Board and President of the University of Regina Women’s Curling Team, Chantel demonstrated exceptional leadership and advocacy. Her dedication reflects the University of Regina’s highest values.

• McKenna Renee Harkness – University Prize in Kinesiology and Health Studies
• Blaze Rayne – College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan Gold Medal for Excellence in Clinical Practice
• Meagan Zigante-Wall – Faculty of Nursing / School of Nursing Deans’ Medal
• Kristen Betty Tanche – University Prize in Social Work
• Yanique Faith Ann-Marie Henry – University Prize in Media, Art, and Performance
The ceremony included the installation of the University’s 10th chancellor, Cadmus Delorme. He is a respected national leader, public servant, and advocate for Truth and Reconciliation. A member of Cowessess First Nation, Delorme has earned widespread recognition for his commitment to Indigenous governance, education, and community building.
“I could not be more proud to be sworn in as the next Chancellor of the University of Regina. I dedicate this role to my parents, and to every other parent or guardian who raised dreamers on this land that we all share,” said Delorme. “To all of our graduates, I hope you continue to use the teachings learned at this University and its associated colleges. You represent the principles, values, and pride to now walk forward with our shared motto, ‘As One Who Serves.’ Congratulations, you did it!”
The University also bestowed an Honorary Doctor of Laws upon the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield SOM, SVM, CD, a proud Reginan and former lieutenant governor of Saskatchewan. She is being recognized for a lifetime of service, leadership, and contributions to the betterment of her community, province, and country.
