SASKATOON — Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) say their Air Support Unit assisted in two overnight arrests following separate incidents.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 24, officers responded to a call in the 200 block of Ave. V South. A white SUV fled from patrol officers after briefly stopping. It was tracked by the SPS Air Support Unit (ASU) and a tire deflation device was used near Ave. Y South and 18th Street West. The vehicle finally stopped on Embassy Drive.
A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, evading police, and breaching conditions. A passenger was released without charges.
Second incident
About four hours later at 2:20 a.m. on Nov. 25, patrol officers tried to stop a suspected stolen Dodge Ram near Confederation Drive. The ASU observed the truck speeding into oncoming lanes before it left the city limits.
The vehicle stopped near Maymont, where a a Lincoln Continental arrived to pick up the occupants. RCMP used a tire deflation device and, with SPS canine support, arrested the occupants. Both had dog bite injuries and were treated before being taken to detention.
A 27-year-old man faces multiple charges, including resisting arrest, dangerous driving, evading police, driving while prohibited, and possession of proceeds of property over $5,000. A 37-year-old person is charged with resisting arrest and dangerous driving.
