WEYBURN — Members of the Weyburn Police Service (WPS) are investigating a stolen motorcycle and made an arrest for an assault.
Police received a report Nov. 20 that a 2017 Yamaha YZ 125 motorcycle that is black with orange accents, was stolen from a backyard on Barber Crescent. The investigation is ongoing.
That same day, the WPS responded to a disturbance in the parking lot of a local business. The WPS said it located a man and a woman in a verbal argument. After separating the parties, police said it was determined the man had assaulted the woman. He was arrested, charged accordingly and later released with conditions.
In other recent WPS news, police responded to a reported fire near the SaskPower Training Centre on Nov. 17. Police said it located a man operating a burning barrel. The fire was extinguished and the man was issued a bylaw ticket for starting a fire without a permit. He was also found to have an active warrant, so he was arrested and transported to the WPS building. He was later released with a new court date.
Officers received multiple complaints Nov. 19 of storage lockers being broken into, with several items reported stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
On Nov. 20, the WPS said it received multiple complaints of what it called “severe and dangerous driving” around Second and Third Streets. Police located the suspect at his residence, where he was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and released for a later court date.
Police were called Nov. 23 to a report of suspicious individuals entering a vacant property. Officers attended and detained a man and a woman on the premises. Both were found to be there without permission and were issued tickets under the Trespass to Property Act. The WPS thanks the public for remaining observant and reporting suspicious activity.
