REGINA — Foggy conditions in Regina are causing delays and travel issues for those coming to and from the city.
Environment Canada has currently placed Regina under a fog advisory, with near-zero visibility being reported.
As of 1:52 p.m., Regina International Airport has reported that 14 flights have been delayed on Wednesday.
The delays are associated with how NAV Canada tracks visibility through its Runway Visual Range (RVR), according to Kyla Antonini, communications and customer experience administrator with the airport.
“This measurement comes from Nav Canada, essentially indicating what the pilots can see. When we are under half a mile and below on the range, then we start seeing delays and cancellations,” noted Antonini.
Lack of visibility caused Air Canada flight AC1113 departing from Toronto Pearson Airport to be diverted from near Regina at around noon to Winnipeg, according to FlightAware.
Data from FlightAware shows the flight has since left Winnipeg Richardson International Airport and landed in Regina around 3:15 p.m.
As for visibility, Antonini said it’s improved, and the airport is hopeful it can start getting back on schedule.
