SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Fire Department rescued a semi driver Friday afternoon after the vehicle went off the Highway 7 rail overpass just west of the city.
The SFD said it received the report at 2:26 p.m. Fire crews arrived to find the truck off the overpass and the driver unable to exit the cab. The driver was not injured but required assistance to get out safely.
Firefighters rescued the driver, and patient care was transferred to ambulance personnel.
For safety, Highway 7 eastbound is closed, while westbound traffic was reduced to one lane. Motorists were advised to check the Highway Hotline for updates.
CN Rail and Corman Park RCMP also responded to the scene.
earlier on Friday Saskatoon police issued an advisory to the public that winter driving conditions currently exist with 35 collisions reported to police since Friday morning with additional reports continuing to be made.
