ESTEVAN — Three police officers in Estevan have been saluted for arresting impaired drivers.
Connie Hagel with the Estevan chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving presented Van de Vorst Family Awards to Sgt. Paul Chabot and Const. Katelynn Ruthven of the Estevan Police Service, and Cpl. Andrew Knowles of the Estevan RCMP.
Chabot received a gold award for arresting 27 impaired drivers. Ruthven (10 motorists) and Knowles (eight) received silver honours.
“For your extraordinary commitment to removing impaired drivers from our roads and highways. Our heartfelt gratitude for everything you do for the safety of the families and communities of Saskatchewan,” the award states.
The award is named after Jordan and Chanda Van de Vorst and their children Kamryn and Miguire, who died in a collision caused by an impaired driver in 2016 near Saskatoon.
