REGINA – Lorilee Davies can remove the word “acting” from in front of “Chief of Police.”
Davies was announced as the new permanent Chief of Police for Regina Police Services at an announcement Thursday at police headquarters.
The announcement was made by Mayor Chad Bachynski on behalf of the Board of Police Commissioners. He said Davies is the first female Chief of Police not only for Regina Police Service but any police force in the province’s history.
Davies has had a long career of nearly 30 years with Regina Police Service in uniform, investigative, and plain clothes positions, and had served as acting Police Chief for the past several months while former Chief Farooq Sheikh was under suspension.
Sheikh was terminated from his role in October and the search for a replacement was a relatively short one, with the board opting to go with Davies on a permanent basis.
The official swearing in ceremony for Davies is set for the new year.
More to come…
