REGINA — Two Saskatchewan Western Canada Lottery players have pulled in significant Vault Breaker jackpots.
Sara Hodgson of Avonlea was awarded $896,889.70 after winning the grand jackpot on Vault Breaker at Blue Hills Motor Inn in Avonlea on Nov. 22.
Charles McCutcheon of Saskatoon was awarded $606,681.80 at 50 Shots Sports Bar and Grill in Langham on Oct. 29.
Hodgson said she has a couple plans for her $896,889.70 win.
“I’m going to pay off my house and help my elderly parents,” she stated. “I’ll take a vacation with some family and friends, too.”
“I’m also going to retire early,” she continued. “This is great – life changing.”
McCutcheon says his windfall came as a surprise.
“I have had the Vault Breaker come up before, it’s always the small [jackpot],” he said. “So, when [the grand jackpot] came up on the screen,I was in shock!”
McCutcheon doesn’t have any major plans for his windfall, but he is looking forward to paying some bills.
“I’ll likely pay some bills and just enjoy life,” he said. “I’m retired now, so I can enjoy it and use it for good stuff.”
“At my age, it’s going to help with a lot of things!” he beamed.
Vault Breaker is a wide-area progressive that links 4,200 VLTs located in more than 560 sites in nearly 270 communities across the province. There are three mystery jackpot tiers: the province-wide grand jackpot has a minimum value of $500,000 and pays out before it hits $1.5 million, the regional major jackpot has a minimum value of $5,000 and pays out before it hits $25,000, and the local site jackpot minimum is $100 and pays out before hitting $500. Any of the three jackpot tiers can be awarded when a patron plays Vault Breaker.
