SASKATCHEWAN — Canada Post is advising the public of delivery delays thanks to a powerful winter storm hitting the province on Dec. 9.
The company has issued red and yellow delivery service alerts for parts of Saskatchewan due to freezing rain. Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn and Swift Current have red delivery service alerts, while Saskatoon and southern Saskatchewan are at yellow alert status.
A red service alert means that the corporation is suspending delivery for the day and not sending delivery agents out or recalling them. This includes mail collection. A yellow service alert means Canada Post will try to deliver, but there might be delays.
"Delivery will resume once conditions improve and it’s safe to do so. The safety of our employees is our number 1 priority," Canada Post said in a news release.
An alert can be issued for a particular community or an entire province, depending on the weather event:
Service alerts are posted online through a website and on social media platforms.
"We encourage customers to clear the ice from their walkways, stairs and driveways, to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors, as well as their delivery agents, when service resumes," the press release stated.
If customers have questions regarding mail delivery, they can contact Canada Post's customer service team online at canadapost.ca/support or by telephone at 1-866-607-6301 or 1-800-267-2797.
