FOX VALLEY — Leader RCMP are working to identify an individual captured on video near the scene of a suspicious residential fire in Fox Valley.
Police note that this is a separate incident from the fire that occurred at a business in Leader on Oct. 26. Leader RCMP are actively investigating both fires. At this time, it is not believed the two incidents are connected.
On Nov. 22 at approximately 2:45 a.m., Leader RCMP received a report of a structure fire at a residence on Centre Street in Fox Valley.
Officers and local firefighters responded. When officers arrived, the residence was fully engulfed. The residence did not have any occupants at the time of the fire. Based on evidence police have gathered, the fire is believed to be suspicious in nature.
As part of the investigation, Leader RCMP checked the surrounding area for witnesses and video captured.
Officers collected footage of an individual, believed to be male, walking down the street in the direction of the residence carrying a jerry can. Shortly after, the male is seen running in the opposite direction down the street. Video was also captured of the male in a truck. The truck is described as a mid-90’s to early 2000’s light grey/silver lifted pick-up truck.
At the time of the incident, the male was seen wearing dark coloured clothing, a face covering, and overalls. Leader RCMP continue to investigate and are now asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect and truck. Please note, the minivan depicted in the photos and video is not believed to be connected to this incident.
Anyone with information about this incident, or who recognizes the suspect or truck in the video, is asked to report it to police by calling 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
