A wealth of information is going to be passed on to producers attending the Agronomy Research Update in Saskatoon this week.
Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, University of Saskatchewan, and the private sector are giving all-day presentations Wednesday and Thursday about the 2025 growing season and what to expect in 2026.
Crops Extension Specialist with the Ministry of Agriculture Tyce Masich said the event is not only for farmers, but also for those in the industry looking to increase their knowledge.
"I'm grateful to have the opportunity to learn," Masich said. "There's always just so much to learn, even from an agrologist myself in the industry, from people that are actively doing research and getting the latest data on what's happening in the ag industry."
Asked if there's a specific topic he's interested in, Masich said it's hard to pick one.
"That's like choosing a favourite child. It's hard to choose," he said. "There's so many topics that interest me between insects, soil science, weed science, so I'm looking forward to all of them. So it's very hard to choose. I'm just looking forward to lots this year."
He noted a lot of people have signed up for the Agronomy Research Update – 175 in-person and another 250 people watching online.
The event is happening at TCU Place.
