A significant player in the Prairie grain industry is selling its assets.
GrainsConnect Canada is selling to Parrish & Heimbecker.
About 10 years ago, GrainCorp, an international agribusiness formed a strategic joint venture with a major Japanese agricultural cooperative called Zen-Noh Grain Corporation, to create GrainsConnect Canada.
The first GrainsConnect terminal opened in October of 2017.
The company currently has high throughput terminals in Maymont and Reford in northwestern Saskatchewan along with terminals in Huxley and Vegreville, Alberta.
GrainsConnect also has a joint venture with Parrish & Heimbecker at the Fraser Grain Terminal in the Port of Vancouver.
Therefore, it’s not surprising that GrainsConnect is selling to P&H, a long-standing family-owned grain company based in Winnipeg.
The transaction is subject to regulatory review before financial close.
